What drives website cost in Qatar

Two websites can look alike and still cost very different amounts. The price follows the work behind the screen, not the look of the home page. These are the main things that move the number.

Number of pages. Each page needs layout, content and testing on phones and desktops. A five page site and a fifty page site are different jobs. Pages that share one template, such as product or news pages, cost less each than pages designed one by one.

Languages. Most businesses in Qatar need English and Arabic. Arabic is not a translation pasted into an English layout. The whole page flips right to left. Menus, icons, forms, tables and sliders all need checking in both directions. A bilingual site is close to building two layouts, so it costs more than one language.

Design depth. A clean layout built from a proven structure is quicker than a fully custom design with animation, illustration and many rounds of review. Both are valid. The question is how much your brand needs to stand apart.

CMS. If your team wants to edit text, add news or change prices without calling a developer, the site needs a content management system. Setting it up, shaping the admin screens and training your staff all take time.

Integrations. Linking the site to a CRM, an ERP, a booking tool, a payment gateway or WhatsApp adds real work. Each link needs setup, testing and a plan for when the other system changes.

Content. Someone has to write the words and supply the photos. If you have ready Arabic and English copy and good images, the cost is lower. If you need copywriting, translation, product photography or a video shoot, budget for it as a separate line.

Catalogue size for e-commerce. A store with a few products is a different project from one with thousands of items, variants, sizes and colours. Data import, filters, stock rules and delivery zones all grow with the catalogue.

Ongoing costs after launch

The build is not the only cost. A website keeps running, and that has a monthly or yearly cost. Ask about these before you sign, so the total is clear.

Hosting, domain and basic maintenance. Our package costs QAR 2,500 per year. It covers the server, the yearly domain renewal and routine updates. Make sure the domain is registered in your company name.

Licences. Some themes, plugins, fonts, maps and e-commerce tools charge a yearly fee. Ask for a list of paid licences and who pays them.

Payment and app fees. Online stores pay gateway fees on each sale. Mobile apps carry Apple and Google developer account fees. Add these to your yearly budget.

Cheap freelancer or web design agency?

There is no single right answer. Both have a place. The right choice depends on the size of the job and the risk if it goes wrong.

A freelancer can be a good fit for a simple page, a short campaign or a tight budget. You often get a lower price and direct contact with the person doing the work. The risk is that one person is a single point of failure. If they travel, change jobs or stop replying, your site can be stuck. Check that you get the logins, the code and the domain in your name.

An agency usually costs more because you pay for a team: design, development, Arabic layout checks, testing and support. You also get a company that can sign a contract, issue an invoice and still be there next year. For a site that brings in sales, handles payments or links to your systems, that cover is often worth the extra cost.

Whatever you choose, ask the same questions. Who owns the domain and code? Who fixes things after launch, and how fast? What exactly is in the price?

How to compare website quotes in Qatar

Quotes are hard to compare when each one lists different things. Put them side by side using the same checklist.

Check the scope. The quote should list the pages, features and languages in writing. If it only says website design, ask for detail.

Check what is excluded. Content writing, translation, photography, hosting, licences and support are often left out. A low quote may simply leave more for you to pay later.

Check the Arabic. Ask to see a live Arabic site they built. Open it on your phone and check the layout, the fonts and the forms.

Check ownership and handover. The domain, hosting account, code and content should be in your name at the end. Ask for this in the contract.

Check support terms. Ask what happens after launch, how you request a change and what it costs. Get it in writing.

Check the company. Ask for the commercial or free zone licence number and verify it. Read their Google reviews for detail, not only stars.

How to lower your website cost without cutting corners

You can bring the price down without ending up with a weak site. The trick is to cut scope, not quality.

Start with fewer pages. Launch the pages that bring enquiries and add the rest later. Prepare your content early. Ready text and photos save design rounds and delays. Use a proven layout instead of a fully custom design if your brand allows it. Phase your integrations. Get the site live first, then link the CRM or ERP in a second stage.

What you should not cut is Arabic quality, mobile testing, security and backups. These are cheap to do right at the start and expensive to fix later.

How Vibes prices a website

We are Vibes Technologies QFZ LLC, licensed with the Qatar Free Zones Authority, FZA No. 268, with an office in Doha. We have delivered 150+ projects since 2021 and hold a 5.0 Google rating.

We do not send a price before we understand the job. We start with a short scope call, then send a written quote that lists the pages, features, languages, what is excluded and the support terms. The domain and code are handed over in your name, and your team is trained on the CMS.

Red flags in a low website quote

  • Domain in the vendor's name

If the domain is registered to the agency or freelancer, you do not fully own your website. Moving later can be slow or impossible. Ask for it in your company name from day one.

  • No CMS handover

If you cannot log in and edit your own pages, every small change becomes a paid request. Ask who gets the admin login and whether training is included.

  • No written support terms

A quote that ends at launch leaves you alone when something breaks. Ask what support costs, how fast they respond and how you raise a request.

  • Template sold as custom

Templates are fine when they are priced as templates. The problem is paying for custom design and getting a theme with your logo dropped in. Ask what is designed for you and what is reused.

  • No real Arabic layout

Arabic text inside an English left to right layout looks broken to Arabic readers. Ask for a live Arabic site they built and check it on your phone.

  • No live portfolio

Screenshots are easy to borrow. Ask for links to live sites you can open today, and send a test enquiry through one of them.

  • No licence or invoice

A business that cannot show a licence or issue a proper invoice is hard to hold to a contract. Ask for the licence number and check it.

Website cost questions

How much should it cost to design a website?

It depends on what the site has to do. A single landing page costs far less than a bilingual store or a custom platform. As a guide, website cost in Qatar runs from QAR 6,000 for a landing page to QAR 45,000 and up for a custom platform. Compare quotes on the same scope, not on the headline number.

What's the cheapest way to run a website?

Keep it small and simple. Use a few well written pages, a reliable host and a CMS your team can edit, so you do not pay for every change. Avoid paid plugins you do not need. Cheap hosting with no backups is a false saving.

Can I build a website for free?

Yes. Free website builders let you make a basic site at no cost. The trade-offs are real. You usually get the builder's branding and sometimes ads, a sub-domain instead of your own name, limited design and features, and weak Arabic support. You also do not own the platform. For a personal page that is fine. For a business, it often looks less credible.

Can ChatGPT create a website?

It can draft code and copy, and it is useful for a simple page or a first draft. It does not set up hosting, handle security, check your Arabic layout on real phones, connect payments or your CRM, or fix the site when something breaks. Someone still has to do that work and own the result.

Do I pay monthly or one time?

Most projects have a one time build cost plus ongoing costs for hosting, domain, licences and support. Some agencies offer a monthly plan instead. Ask for both numbers in writing so you can compare the total cost over time.

Who owns the website when it is finished?

You should. The domain, hosting account, code and content should be in your company name, with full logins handed over. Put this in the contract. At Vibes, we hand over the domain and code in your name.

Is VAT or tax included in a website quote?

It depends on the vendor and your situation. Ask each vendor to state clearly whether any tax applies and whether it is included in the price. Check with your accountant for advice on your business.

Why do website quotes in Qatar vary so much?

Because they rarely cover the same work. One quote may include Arabic layout, CMS training, content and support. Another may leave all of that out. Line the quotes up against the same scope before you compare prices.
